Does anyone else get horrible mood swings with their migraine headaches?

I’m not generally depressed, but today, before my head hurt and before I started seeing funny spots (but not before seeing some flashing lights), I just felt like jumping off a bridge. Other times before a nasty migraine, I’ll feel like chewing off people’s heads. The I-just-want-to-die feelings are rather frightening because they are so strong and so out of left field.

As soon as I recognized them as prodromal symptoms, I took my rescue meds. I’m glad my head doesn’t hurt too much, but all sounds and lights still hurt a lot.

Does anyone else go through this?
How common is this as a migraine symptom?
What do you do?

No joke answers on this one, PLEASE. This is not funny for me. It is nasty, painful and scary. Thanks for your honest suggestions and comments.

I dont know about common, but you are not alone.

I get so ornery that I really – really – frighten myself. I just want to leap out of my skin. and then that goes back and forth with wanting to leap off a cliff….

So I’ve learned a few things a) I always have to keep a stash of comedies around (I buy movies on sale at target for 5 bucks – which I keep for in the dead of winter) b) there are somedays I simply have to be by myself, because otherwise I will act in ways that will destroy realtionships and c) on those days sometimes the only thing you can do is go for a walk…(or watch a movie…guess what I have on my mind…)
